Car donation is becoming popular throughout the country. Car donation helps you serve charitable causes while helping you save some tax dollars. However, the whole process of car donation has transformed from charitable act to a fully blown business.

Most charitable organizations do not have their independent car donation programs. These charities depend solely on private organizations who work under the false pretense of providing charity. These charities exercise complete monopoly and charge exorbitant fees which remain completely unknown to the donor.

Cheating You of Your Charity

Most of the private car donation programs are aimed at filling their own coffers. Their advertisements in national dailies and television declare how they take complete care of the total process and make sure that the proceeds from the sale of your car would go to the intended organization. However, that is just eyewash.

An estimated 50 to 90% of your car value is charged by these organizations which run the car donation programs. This fee is taken in lieu of assisting the whole car donation process which includes towing and transfer of titles. Some of these organizations have a fixed monthly charity sum, which helps them make even more money. No matter what the value of your car, the proceeds to the charity are fixed.

Do It Yourself!!
The major flaw with car donation programs is that it ends up benefitting the donor more than the charity. It is always better to not have any middlemen in donate a car. This will help in making sure that the charity money is utilized in the intended manner.
